A little warning about decorative lamp shades. . .

My wife made one years ago by sandwiching autumn leaves between translucent layers. Looked beautiful. They've faded now to near-invisibility, and the fading accelerated dramatically when we began using a compact fluorescent bulb in the lamp. These bulbs put out a fair amount of ultraviolet light which really speeds fading due to the high energy of UV light. White LEDs don't typically put out much UV light, but usually have a big spectral spike in the blue region. Although not as energetic as UV, its presence might cause an LED bulb to cause more fading than incandescent.

So I'd recommend using an incandescent bulb in any lamp having a colorful or decorative shade.
