As far as I know Bengie, these two radios are not in the same league. The ICOM is a budget radio that has a good reputation and the Garmin (Apollo) is more expenisve and is, hands down, the slickest comm on the market. Unless money is critical, there's no contest. GARMIN. If I ever need to replace the 2 VALs I have in N150DM the Garmin SL40 will be the 1st choice.
