ALWAYS have an IA do your prebuy and tell him your hiring him to talk you out of the deal. I am an A&P and have nowhere near the knowledge of a good GA IA. Either you'll pay now or pay dearly later!
I can say Yea or Nay to this. If you and/or your own
personal mechanic does the prebuy. Then a great big Yea!
If you are just hiring a mechanic "off of the street" and expect them to do a good prebuy for you? Especially long distance? Be prepared for the worst when your first annual comes due!
