Yes, the 0-300s are very smooth running, very little vibration. The visibility over the nose of the early models is much better as well, the cowling slopes away and is nearly out of view in the '50s models (takes a little getting used to). I prefer the earlier models in many ways. There are a couple downsides however.
1 six cylinders to maintain and overhaul instead of four (plugs, wires, etc.).
2 engine is heavier and produces less HP. 145 hp
Oh, and 3 - it's old enough to be the great grandparent of the girl in the photos.
Now I have a question. The lady in those photos is obviously very young, probably half my age. Now does the fact that I keep going back to look at those photos and still couldn't tell you what equipment (avionics) is on that instrument panel, officially make me a dirty old man?
