I was out in Shawnee a couple of weeks ago and had the opportunity to talk to Damon's (former) mechanics.

Ho-lee-smokes.

I didn't get to look at 4901L (it's still at the airport there), but I already know I wouldn't hire those two clowns for anything aircraft related. Neither one of them are pilots. Both of them are sharks.

I stood in a large hangar while they proceeded to regale me with stories of their expensive repairs. At the moment, they were doing an annual on a Bonanza. The airplane had eight hours on it since the last extensive annual they'd performed on it, yet they'd already run the bill up over $20,000.

It appears they think "airworthy" and "like new" mean the same thing. It doesn't. However, it appears they've got a few customers who don't understand the difference either and are willing to hand over their wallets for no expense spared annuals.

If your prospective mechanic doesn't fly and it's a part time gig for them, run.
