It's also easy to switch from the aircraft navigation mode to the street navigation mode and back. The only drawback I've found is that the street navigation database (provided by HP) was last updated in March 2008, and I haven't been able to find an update for it.

From the AWM forum...

Instructions - Preparation
1. Exit out of ATC Update Center.
2. Remove SD card from ATC.
3. Turn on ATC, unlock, launch HP Navigation/Oasis Program. (Critical)
4. Connect USB cable between PC and ATC.
5. Launch IE browser and jump to www.naviextras.com [naviextras.com]
6. Register with Naviextras (if you have not already) and indicate your device is a HP Ipaq 310.
7. Install Naviextras Toolbox.
8. Launch Naviextras Toolbox and let the Toolbox connect to the device. (Your device may be recognized as a HP Ipaq 316 initially. After maps are installed, the Toolbox may identify your device as a IGo MyWay 8 device. Don't worry about that.)
9. Go to Naviextras's Backup utility and backup the ATC. I will say again - this is essential. Otherwise, you may have a brick.

Instructions - Moving Maps and Installing the Updated Maps
1. Purchase the desired map updates that you want. You will have the option of installing all or a portion of the maps later if you buy a bundle.
2. Download the maps that you purchased.
3. Go to "Transfer my contents" in Naviextras Toolbox; Notice the nnn/NNNN at the bottom of this page - where nnn is the amount of free memory and NNNN is the total memory.
4. Move all maps and points of interests from your device to your PC. Do not delete any files - just move them. This process frees up memory as Naviextras does not overwrite existing maps, points of interest and 3D info. You should end up with ~1700/2000 MB after the maps, poi, et al. Leave the voice files although you can move unneeded languages and voices.
5. Go to Updates and install your maps, poi and 3D files. The files are downloaded first, and then installed. During this time, your device must stay connected to the PC and your PC must stay connected to the Internet This takes 6-12 hours so allocated necessary time.
6. After the updates are installed, jump back to "Transfer my Contents". You must have 946 MB free of 2000 MB. If you do not, then you should consider moving unnecessary country or territory maps off of the device to the PC (until you need them) - such as Canada, US Virgin Islands, Mexico. You should also consider moving POI's by state off of the device and only leaving what you need (and installing them from time to time depending on your travels). The Toolbox will now recognize your device as an IGo MyWay 8 device once the maps are installed.
7. Backup your device again.
8. Disconnect using "Safely Remove" first as Naviextras Toolbox does not do this like AUC.
9. Disconnect and perform a soft reboot on the device.
10. Reinstall the AWM SD card
11. Both HP Oasis and AWM should run fine - provided you left adequate free memory. I have had trouble getting the device to run if all states/countries POI's are installed.
12. If you encounter any issue with AWM, follow CV instructions - starting with the ATC Hotfix.
