I've only seen towbars still attached or chocks left in place a couple of times, and they've rarely been immediately prior to flying. I've always seen it happen when someone is taxiing from the fuel pump back to their hangar/tie down. I guess maybe not as much forethought is expended sometimes when not actually flying?
