As you are all aware, I have embarked on a major project with Juliet. Actually, three major projects.
The engine is first, and disassembly is proceeding. I found a truly wonderful mag shop. Magneto Service, Inc. at Boeing Field in Seattle. Talk to Cliff.
The short version ... they will look at your Slicks and make a determination about the practicallity of the 500-hour service, or if you should exchange ... no charge. The 500-hour is $253.
They spent a good deal of time on the phone with me talking about Slick mags. One valuable piece of data passed on was to watch out for low priced exchange Slicks. "Exchange" Slicks, BTW are new. It doesn't pay to overhaul Slicks. Some recent Slicks are subject to an AD. If you are exchanging, be CERTAIN to get mags with serial numbers above 0808453.
My mags are 1996 manufacture, which was a good year. Cliff says if the impulse coupling is good, the 500-hour is what they need. If he finds the impulse coupling shot, he will button the mags back up and send 'em back to me so I can exchange 'em.
