In fact, I have now spoken with the mechanic/A&P who maintained the airplane for the owner since 1972. He performed the overhaul in 1980, replacing bearings, valves, valve springs, etc. The airplane was stripped and re-painted at that time too. The airplane flew 620 hours since then. It has been hangered all these years and is well maintained, but it is out of annual as of November, 2004 (owner elected not to annual since he did not want to fly in the though he has run up the engine during its winter sleep). Seller will have the annual inspection done at sale. The mechanic said he has maintained the airplane meticulously all these years with details in the logs and that all AD's are complied with.

Still, I do think $29,000 is a bit much even with 1620 TT. My friend who refered me to this 150 says that the owner won't budge much on price since he considers this airplane his pride and wouldn't be selling except for his age (80 years) and fear of not passing medical. Incidently, the mechanic is almost as old at 78.
