ok all good info i see so far but the one big thing is you can only fly for up to 10 hrs away to your home base to perform the maintenance
dang cant find cfr book but i know from school that its there
No, I don't think so. You can overrun a required 100 hr inspection by 10% in order to get to home base, but the new 100 hr is only good for the remaining hours (90?) to the next
scheduled 100 hr inspection. This has NOTHING to do with an annual or a ferry permit. If the feds will give you a ferry permit from Seattle to Key West, then its OK to fly it, however, it has to be a reasonably direct, route, detours to Maine would not be allowed.
In Lionel's case, the ferry permit would get you TO the border, but not into Canada, unless you had something already set up with Transport Canada.
